corrected
neglected to consider
herself
bitter towards rejection
so she lets
him
help
reassure her
self-
esteem
dreams of finding out
what it means
to know
rather than believe
that she doesn’t need
his vision for her
to dream
or his abuse
to succeed
so she breathes
quietly
tiptoeing around his needs
to question her loyalty
or answer her inquiry
as she asks
if she’s free
or if
she is just
his need
to be man enough
for the both of them
so she breathes
silently
allowing him to sleep
while she delivers
deliberately
the thing
that he needs,
manhood
she is more of the man
than her man
could ever be
but because of her pride
she lets him
lead
them
along
unequally

She stands

let it happen
again
found out who she was
through a man
no idea
of her identity
no plan
gave herself
no chance
to be
just happy
that she is
finally
free
even if
just so happens
to be
temporarily…
