Never Say… [POEM]

The paint on the walls
of waiting for you
is dry
Now I’m just waiting
to die

And you never noticed the tide rising or the flames burning the tears away
You never knew how to hold me
or the right words to say

And this is what happens
when good hearts
write bad things
about old loves
who did new shit
for no reason
And told unnecessary lies,

This is how it sounds
when you don’t believe them

Bless whoever has to deal with me because you played all the cards,
Jokers wild,
double down,
all-in,
full house,
crowded but no talking loud
type of games you ran
I’m over you
I just don’t understand

And you never noticed the tide rising or the flames burning the tears away
You never knew how to hold me
or the right words to say

I used to believe
in fairy tales
and dreams
I used to foolishly think
that it mattered
if you opened your heart
to give someone a try
that love was
exactly
what happened

And you never noticed the tide rising or the flames burning the tears away
You never knew how to hold me
or the right words to say
