we should have tried,
for something helps
maybe one more time
or something else
should have pretended,
even made it a game
but full knowing the rules
we both would have played
saw fit to stay together
by exercising choice
instead we ran from forever
at the sound of a voice
lost sight of the wonder
and fell victim to what was
by discerning that happy
was looked over by once was
it might have been purpose
but who ever knows
if trust on the surface
is the control that never goes
when sorry’s and didn’t’s
mean nothing for sake
and the rumor of peace
is all that remains
both distance and change
served cold for the season
the hurts and pain, both
gone, for no reason
a moment for right
left stranded for wrong
the theme of our life
just said in a song…
