He won’t ever notice
invisible clues
or hear silence
or guess impossible
or do everything right

He might just be perfect,
for you

He may go
and stay awhile longer
than planned
or expected
or expressed
or promised
or allowed

but he’ll return

stronger and more sure
feeling more vulnerable,
and trustworthy
and deliberate
to you

until he leaves

again

like he always does.
