finally opened my heart
to the idea of care
finally surrendered my mind
to the idea of fair

finally came to the table
prepared to grow
finally opened my mind
prepared to know

finally surrendered
I stopped fighting
finally pretended
that I could stop writing

finally took the right chance
and came up empty
finally took the right stance
and came up limping…

finally swallowed my pride
and indeed I choked
finally fell for love
and indeed I broke.
