Did they earn YOU?

Stop giving them titles they haven’t earned, or that they don’t deserve.

Like, friend.

Especially when that’s exactly what they are not being.

Because friends don’t sabotage you. Friends don’t deceive you. Friends don’t misuse you. Friends don’t manipulate and conspire against you. Friends don’t betray you. Friends don’t secretly, or privately envy or hate on you.

Friends don’t sit around non-friends and discuss your business, your life, or your privacy. Friends don’t gossip about you with non-friends. Friends don’t pick sides between you and non-friends.

Friends don’t spread rumors and lies about you. Especially to non-friends.

Friends do not abandon you.

Friends do not destroy your name.

Friends do not fake it.

Friends are allies. Friends support. Friends recommend. Friends believe. Friends trust. Friends promote. Friends protect. Friends follow-up. Friends follow-through. Friends appreciate. Friends acknowledge. Friends cheer. Friends check-in. Friends check-up. Friends check-on. Friends are there.

You shouldn’t have to question who your friends are. It should not be such a battle to figure out if they actually have your back. You should not have to wonder/worry/stress as to whether or not your “friends” are solid.

Friends don’t have questionable motives. Friends don’t have shifty energy. Friends don’t have shady character. Friends don’t backstab. Friends don’t perpetrate. Friends don’t pretend.

If that is the case, those are not your friends. Those are something else.

A “friend” is not an act, a “friend” is an action.

Friendship is reciprocal.

Being a friend is a responsibility.

It’s a relationship.

It’s a real honor.

Be careful who YOU give that title to.
