It’s not selfish. It’s self care.
You’re a good person. You want good. You see good. You desire good. You speak good. You do good.
You do what you believe is right. You do what you believe is necessary. Especially, and primarily, for others. Because you believe that it’s most important; To be generous, empathetic, compassionate, and understanding. To be loyal and dependable. To be consistent.
To be for someone what you may not have had. To be someone that can be counted on, and called upon, by almost every and anyone, for all that you have available to give. And they call. And you give. Constantly and considerably. Exhausting every measure and mean that you have in order to fulfill your duty as the “good” person that you are. Going above and beyond to maintain the notion of good that you are. Even if it puts you in some “bad” spots, or circumstances.
For you, the end (you being there) justifies the means.
But, what does it mean?
What does it mean when you’re good to everyone but the most important person to you? You. What does it mean to prioritize, sacrifice, and advocate for everyone but the individual that should be the first person to receive the benefit(s) of who you are?
It means nothing. You’re a martyr of mediocrity. Because it is mediocre to not believe in, not be for, not speak for, not do for… self.
You deserve good. You deserve good, too. You deserve YOUR good, FIRST!
And YOU have not been very good to you.
Now you’re empty, or you’re running low. You’re broke, or you’re breaking. You’ve lost, or you’re close to losing it.
And not many of them (that you’ve been there for) are around to do what YOU did for them.
That’s tough. That’s life.
But you do know someone. YOU.
It’s time for YOU, to be YOU, to YOU, with YOU, for YOU!
NOW.
